Dear St George Families

I hope and pray that everyone is keeping well in these difficult and unpredictable times, and that your families and loved ones are all well. The staff and I miss our Dragons and think about them often. We hope they are finding creative ways to keep busy - social distancing can be challenging for sure!

For anyone who has travelled or is still away, we pray for your safe and healthy return home. It is important you practise self isolation as indicated by Ottawa Public Health.

To everyone else, even if you are not in self-isolation, please respect 'social distancing' parameters and keep outings specific to getting essentials and checking on vulnerable friends and family. Having said that, get out for walks, chat with your neighbours, bake, make crafts, Facetime and take at least a couple of hours a day to unplug from the world wide web and practise mindfulness. If you need a great resource to help you with this, I suggest the CALM app. Taking care of your mental well being is going to be especially important the next little while.

I know many of you have questions about what the next couple of weeks will look like. The Ottawa Catholic School Board  will send updates as they come in but in the meantime, please refer to their website for any additional information. For any events that may have been scheduled for the next 2 weeks, they have been cancelled or rescheduled. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out to you early this week with some updates regarding their learning. As a group of Educators, we have put the following list March 2020: Learning at Home ideas and will continue to add to it throughout the following two weeks.

As you would have already heard, EQAO has been cancelled for this school year. On Friday, the Ministry of Education announced an e-learning portal that is already up and running.  I have not had a chance to review it in depth, but it does provide learning modules from K-12 in various subject areas. Here is the link for your convenience. Learn at home portal

I would like to thank our custodial staff, as this past week they were hard at work cleaning and disinfecting our school.  High grade cleaning supplies were used and surfaces were given extra attention. The school is closed to all for the next 2 weeks.

Finally, if you or any of your loved ones are out there either driving a bus, stocking a grocery store shelf, working in clinics, hospitals, driving an ambulance or a police car, or any other job that requires you to be out there helping others, please know how grateful we are for everything you are doing and that we are all praying for your health and wellbeing.

I thank all of you for your understanding and flexibility. If your family is in need of support or if you know a family in need of support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at . More information will be shared with you each week by the school board, your child's educators and myself.

Take care of yourselves and your family, we will be in touch again soon.
