March 27th Memo

Hello Parents/Guardians

We hope that this message finds you healthy and safe as we do our best to follow the direction of our government and practise physical distancing. As we watch and listen to how our wonderful city, province, country and world copes with this virus, we wanted to let you know that we are thinking of all of you. We met as a staff virtually using the platform Google Meets this week. We strongly recommend that you try it with family/friends. It was so wonderful to see all of the St George Staff on my screen. We talked about ways that we are keeping ourselves healthy and how we are reaching out to families by email, blog, seesaw, twitter, and even a few phone calls if needed. If you have not heard from your child’s teacher, please ask your child to check their school email as some teachers have connected that way. It is very important that you please make sure that you or your child lets the teachers know that you have received their message. If you still have not received anything from your child’s teachers, please email me at The school board is also communicating with families through school messenger/email so we encourage you to check your email regularly for updates.

We also wanted to share the following two links in case you have not been made aware of these support systems.  Federal income supplement and Provincial emergency assistance

We would also like to support any local businesses that are providing a service during these very challenging times. Please fill in this form and we will let our community, family and friends know about your service. Since the Parkdale Food Centre has temporarily closed, we have made some donations to the Ottawa Food Bank hoping to reach some of the families in our St George Community.

You have been such a generous community this year, supporting some of our families with the Wellness Fund - through School Cash online. This Fund will continue to collect money if you would like to donate during this time. We have been purchasing grocery cards for those in need in our community. We will continue to do so and would welcome any donations that you can provide. The link is on the school webpage

Please reach out to us through my email if you require some assistance and we will do what we can to support you.

We  feel very blessed to belong to such a wonderful community with a dedicated school staff, awesome students and supportive parents. Please continue to follow the direction of physical distancing so that we can beat this virus and be back together soon.

Take care and God Bless

Roisin Philippe, Teri Shurb and all of the St. George Staff!
