Update from the Den: April 2nd, 2019

posted Apr 2, 2019, 7:25 AM by Tim Slack

Friday is PJ Day here at St. George. Wear your PJ’s to school and bring in $2 for our Lenten Project. All proceeds go to the OK Clean Water Project and to Christie Lake Kids. The Justice League has set a goal for our fundraiser. If we reach $2000 Mr. Slack will do the Macarena in front of the school. If we raise $2500 he will also dye his hair blue.

Do you have a couple of hours to spare to help organize and prep a reading program here at St. George for our Primary students? Teachers have prepared materials and we just need a little bit of help photocopying and organizing to get this program up and running. If you are interested please email tim.slack@ocsb.ca.

Next week the School Council will be hosting the 14th Annual Book Sale here at St. George. This is a great opportunity to have your child buy a book that another student in our community has already enjoyed. It promotes reading as well as supporting environmental initiatives by reusing the books we have in our homes.

If you are looking to do a little spring cleaning and want to donate some of your books that you have read, please send them into the school. We will make sure that we find a new home for them and a new reader.

If you are looking to volunteer in the school we are looking for help at the following times:

There are 5 possible times for volunteers, but the really critical ones are the sort on Monday night and the clean-up on Tuesday:

  • Monday 3:45 to 7pm
  • Tuesday 9:30 to 12
  • Tuesday 1 to 3:30
  • Tuesday 3:30 to 5:30
  • Tuesday 5:30 to 7 (to close sale and do clean-up)
  • Thanks from the St. George School Council!
